The iconic, Grade 2 listed, Maker with Rame Institute is at the very heart of the local communities of Cawsand and Kingsand. It is used extensively by locals and visitors alike.
Its prominent position comes at a price however, the building is extremely vulnerable to attack from the sea and earlier structures on this site have been severely damaged or even swept away, as happened in 1819 in violent storms.

In the storms of February 2014 it would have suffered the fate of the first
building except for the swift action of the trustees and prodigious
efforts of the Structural Engineer and Contractors who were quickly on the scene, working in atrocious
conditions to avert disaster.
